    Dreamhost, WordPress and MySQL

    By Jennifer 8. Lee | June 13, 2007

Okay. I just registered for hosting at Dreamhost and installed WordPress.

And indeed, as my friend promised, it was one-click installation + typing in some fields. I had a little stumble with trying to figure out a good nomenclature for the mysql database, as ‘wordpress’ and ‘blog’ (recommended) were being used elsewhere in the Dreamhost world.

I was trying to figure out if underscore could be used in database nomenclature.

This wasn’t so bad. Though I am still futzing around with various templates (some of which are quite tacky). All of this will changed over by the time the public sees it.

I’ve been bugging numerous techie friends on questions ranging from “what’s a named pipe” to “do you unzip the files before you ftp or after?”
